About the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra
The Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra was created in September 2002 by Antonio Vilardi, Artistic Director of the Théatre St. Michel, Clare Roberts and Roger Bausier. Its aim is to provide young conservatoire graduates with an opportunity to put their musical training into practice by playing in a permanent, full-sized symphony orchestra, and thus enhance their chances of becoming professional musicians. In an highly fruitful partnership with the Théatre St. Michel, the orchestra helps to compensate for the current lack of openings for young professionals caused by the gradual disappearance of large orchestras from the Belgian musical scene. The BPO has developed its own identity and is now firmly established as a recognised player in the artistic life of the country.
