The Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra seeks a MARKETING & ADMINISTRATION COORDINATOR to work on a voluntary basis.

Who we are

The Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) is a large orchestra based in Brussels, at the Saint-Michel Theatre (near Montgomery). The orchestra has around one hundred young musicians who have recently graduated from the Conservatoire.

The mission of the BPO is to prepare these musicians for a future career in a professional orchestra, by enabling them to develop their own style in a disciplined and structured manner, through a very varied repertoire. The result is a series of high quality concerts, in a jovial and relaxed atmosphere.

Your role:

  • You will be the “right hand man” (or woman) of the artistic director/conductor for the duration of the orchestral season
  • You will have an overview of all the activities of the BPO and assure the overall coordination for all matters related to marketing, organisation and administration
  • As the driving force behind the orchestra’s activities, you will generate marketing initiatives and make contact with external concert organisers, companies, etc.
  • You will coordinate a small team of volunteers and monitor their motivation
  • You will be involved in the finalising of documents (programmes, brochures, quotations, contracts, etc.) and ensure the follow-up of projects currently underway
  • You will liaise with the webmaster regarding updates of the website

Your profile:

  • You are ready to dedicate some of your own time to support an association and social initiative for young professional musicians
  • Educated to a higher or university level, you are seeking a management role in the cultural sector
  • You have marketing and/or administration experience
  • Your excellent organisational skills enable you to juggle several tasks simultaneously whilst respecting deadlines
  • Well-organised and methodical, you have an eye for detail
  • You have good communication skills both written and spoken and a good team spirit
  • You have up-to-date knowledge of Windows applications (Word, Excel).
  • You are competent in French, Dutch and English.
  • Musical knowledge would be considered an asset

What we offer

  • Regular voluntary work, which can be home-based within an enthusiastic and dynamic team
  • The possibility to be a manager in an interesting sector which is less stressful than the private sphere
  • Social contact at rehearsals in a very relaxed atmosphere
  • The possibility to attend concerts and rehearsals free of charge
